Bearing witness to love is by far one of the most special parts of my job. I’ve sat behind closed doors and listened to countless sermons, comical mishaps and touching vows. Today’s post is especially close to my heart, because it’s the marriage of one of my favorite persons to the man of her dreams.
I’ve watched from the sidelines as Megan and Shaun met, fell in love and decided to blend their families. So often we think of a wedding as the joining of two hearts. This day was the — of 5 hearts into one beautiful family.
The day began early with with the girls getting ready at a hotel and the boys getting ready at home. We were in the trusted hands of Becky with Nellie Sparkman Events. NSE also helped with the wedding day details, including these fun monogramed cups.
It was important to Megan and Shaun that the kids felt very included in all aspects of the wedding. Each child got one on one time with both parents on the day of the wedding.
Ashley Crawford Photography did a fantastic job of capturing the wedding day details. Ashley and her team took my styling items and really ran with them (I usually like to be a part of the styling, but as you’ll see I was a busy girl that day).
Yes, that’s me to the right of the bride. I’d never been in a wedding AND created the flowers…let alone in a different city. It took a few long nights, but the labor of love was worth it. 💙
Both the ceremony and reception took place at The Pella at Blackstone. When Megan first told me she wanted to have the ceremony in the basement, I was a little hesitant. After visiting the place, I quickly fell in love and we decided to create a lush floral installation along the windows that could be repurposed behind the head table during the reception.
This moment might be my favorite from the entire day. There were so many tears of joy as the kids participated in the ceremony.
We added a few black and white anemones to Megan’s bouquet (her favorite) along with lilacs in honor of her grandmother.
The dinning experience was very warm and comfortable. The venue’s catering company, Abraham Catering layered fruit and bread on wood slices for each table to enjoy. One of my favorite details were these table numbers. We worked with Nellie Sparkman to create custom bottle labels that served both as table numbers and water pitchers for each table.
Megan and Shaun, it was truly such an honor to be a part of your wedding, in more ways than one! Wishing you both great happiness and joy as you bring another sweet little one into your family.
